Publication ethics

The policy of the journal «Modern Problems of Science and Education» complies with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) published in the «Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly work in Medical Journals». (http://www.icmje.org). The work of the editorial office is also based on the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE http://publicationethics.org/).

Manuscripts are accepted for consideration if the article and its key findings have not been sent to other publishers for publication, have not been published, and will not appear in print or on the Internet before appearing in the journal «Modern Problems of Science and Education».

The decision of publishing the article is made solely on the basis of its scientific significance.

All editorial staff is responsible for disclosing any information about the incoming manuscript to third parties outside of the authors, reviewers, potential reviewers, and publishers.

Unpublished materials disclosed in the manuscript submitted by the authors cannot be used by editorial staff and transferred to third parties.

When an ethical complaint is filed or a conflict situation is identified regarding the provided manuscript or the published article, the editorial office makes best efforts to solve the disputed problem in accordance with the procedure established by law.

Authors are obliged to send only original works to the editorial office. When referring to the works of other authors, it is necessary to quoting and indicating the source accurate. Publications that had a significant impact in the preparation of the manuscript or defined its format should also be mentioned.

If the work involves the use of materials obtained in observations on humans, the editorial office should make sure that the work was carried out in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association (Declaration of Helsinki) for experiments involving human subjects (https://www.wma.net/policies-post/wma-declaration-of-helsinki-ethical-principles-for-medical-research-involving-human-subjects/) and with the «Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly work in Medical Journals» (http://www.icmje.org).

In the cover letter, the authors should include a statement that informed consent of patients had been obtained to conducting corresponding procedures.

All animal experiments must comply with the rules for the use of laboratory animals and be reflected in the text of the article (www.nc3rs.org.uk/arrive-guidelines , http://ec.europa.eu/environment/chemicals/lab_animals/legislation_en.htm).

In cases of detection the facts of plagiarism, deception, sending of duplicate publications to the journal, attempts to carry out technical modification of the article to artificially overestimate the percentage of originality and other facts of unacceptable behavior and violation of editorial ethics when publishing scientific articles, editors of the journal have the right to impose the following sanctions on authors:

  • Refuse to publish provided manuscript;
  • Prohibit publication of an article in a scientific journal within a certain period;
  • If by coincidence violations of ethical norms are revealed after publication of the article, such article should be removed from the issue of the journal.

International standards provide the legal basis for ensuring publication ethics: Provisions accepted at the 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity (Singapore, 22-24 July 2010); Regulations developed by The Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE and regulations of the section «Copyright» of the Russian Civil Code.

Conflict of interests

In order to send an article to the journal, all authors must provide information about the existence of financial or any other significant conflicts of interest that may be considered to have affected the results of the study or their interpretation. All sources of financing for the presented manuscript should be specified. It is necessary to specify forms of third-party financing of work (grants, subsidies, donations). If there are no conflicts of interest, the authors must state following information: «The authors report that there are no commercial interest in any product or concept discussed in this article».

Retraction

Editorial office can arrange withdrawal (retraction) of published articles in case of violation of editorial ethics, based on recommendations of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The article will be withdrawn (retracted) in case of:

  • The editorial office has evidence of the unreliability of the published information, either as a result of conscious actions (e.g.: the falsification of information) or due to good faith errors (e.g. miscalculation or errors in experiments);
  • The conclusions of the article were previously published in another publication and there are no appropriate references, permissions and justifications for re-publication (duplicate publications);
  • Article has major incorrect matching content;
  • Paper describes unethical research.

Withdrawn articles and references from them are excluded from the RSCI and do not participate in the calculation of indicators.

The initiators of the withdrawal of the article may be the author(s) of the work or the editorial office of the journal.
